Message from the Presidents

Welcome! Bienvenido! Bemvenudo! Bem-vindo!

On behalf of the Latin American Student Association (LASA) at The Fuqua School of Business (Fuqua), we welcome you to our Website. The online resource is an important instrument in helping us bridge our community with prospective students and potential recruiters. Please visit the Website to find information specific to your interests.

Applying to business school is an important career decision and should be seriously considered. Prospective Students will find information important to the application process in our Frequently Asked Questions. If more information is required, please feel free to contact the Admissions Officers of LASA. Information regarding the transition to Durham and Fuqua is available in the transition guide and, since we understand the importance of family, additional information can be requested from the Partners Representative of our Cabinet.

The Latin American Community has always been important and significant in our school. We want to build a strong and collaborative Alumni Network. We continue to make efforts in centralizing the network through the Duke Alumni Clubs in each Latin America country and our LinkedIn group. These resources will allow us to maintain contact between our alumni and the current students. To join our LinkedIn group, please click here.

An important goal of the association is to enable Recruiters to tap the pool of qualified students who are members of our club. Throughout the year our Career Officers develop a series of workshops to inform and prepare current students in their transition towards a post MBA job position. We also work closely with our Career Management Center (CMC) to enhance a resume book that could be easily available for potential recruiters. If you are interested in presenting your company to Latin American students at Fuqua and/or conduct a corporate presentation, please contact our Career Officers.

We hope our Website will introduce you to LASA, and show you how you can actively participate in activities we sponsor and support for your benefit. We look forward to more exciting and stimulating events/activities and to your participation in our community.

Best Regards,

Christian Patino and Andres Vergara

Testimonials:

"Choosing Fuqua as my Business School was an excellent decision. I knew from the beggining that I wanted to work in Investment Banking and having all major banks recruiting on campus made the job search very accessible. At the same time, coming from Buenos Aires, a city with a population of 10 million, I was looking forward to studying in a small city with a strong academic accent. Durham was great in this sense for my wife and me. Last but not least, the environment among students is what is most unique about the school. Students are able to combine their own personal ambitions and challenges with a strong sense of cooperation and team spirit."
Santiago Stel, Class of 2011 - Argentina

"This year at Fuqua has been amazing. I have been able to meet excellent people both in professional and personal sides. Fuqua is a really international school which gives you the opportunity to meet people from different countries and to understand how businesses and life are in other parts of the world.  I chose Fuqua because of its great team work environment and strong reputation in the US. I have been able to experience Team Fuqua from the very beginning of the MBA both inside and outside the classroom. Duke and Fuqua offers you thousands of activities to do outside classes and it just depends on you if you take advantage of them or not. In terms of the city, my wife and I are very happy to live in Durham since it offers you a quality of life that is difficult to find in other cities in US. I joined the LASA and Private Equity Club cabinets last year and now I’m in charge of the Latin American Business Conference 2010. So far this has been a great experience and I have no doubt that these will be some of the best years of my life."
