Career

The Career Council of LASA is managed by Fuqua students; it is divided into Marketing and General Management, Finance, and Consulting. Our goals are to help first year students throughout the recruiting process in their search for a summer internship, and to help second year students find job opportunities in the US and also with Latin American based companies.

By creating a bridge between second year and first year LASA members we are able to provide guidance, and share best practices that help make the recruiting process easier for new students. The search of a MBA internship starts from day one and it is a process that is unfamiliar to many of the first-year students. The LASA career cabinet works hard to help LASA members during this process which is achieved through:

  • Resume revision with assigned LASA mentors
  • Mock interviews coordinated with the Career Management Center
  • Preparation for job fairs such as NSHMBA, and for the "Weeks In Cities" trips of the different areas (finance, consulting, marketing)
  • Workshops and Panels focused on: Interviewing tips, resume guidelines, networking, and preparation to be successful on career fairs

In order to create a bridge between Latin American based companies and LASA members, the Career Cabinet works closely with the Corporate Relations Cabinet to select and contact potential recruiters, and to make LASA member’s information accessible to these companies.

If you represent a company interested in recruiting Latin American Students at Fuqua, we in the Career Cabinet will be happy to assist you by communicating the different job opportunities to our members, and by providing any information that you might find necessary to make your recruiting process at Fuqua a successful one. If you need any help please do not hesitate to contact us:

Testimonials:

"When I look back and think about why I decided to go to Duke, the thing that stands out in my mind is the people that I met during my visit in January 2004. I was really impressed with how the people at Duke could make someone from the outside feel completely at home in a few short days. After my graduation in 2006, I can say with certainty that the people not only made my experience at the school great, but the culture they create, renovate, inspire and live by has made a profound impact in my life overall. The Duke culture allowed me to explore different career paths, deepen my self-understanding, experience unforgettable moments with my fellow classmates, push my limits in class, thrive under a stressful job search process and embrace the community as if I had been born there. The Duke culture makes me go above and beyond still today in helping Duke find the best and brightest students who will nurture the Team Fuqua ideal in the future."

"Joining Fuqua has been an incredible experience, a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. Fuqua has prepared me for future challenges in the fast paced and competitive world we live in. Having the opportunity to study with students from different countries and cultural backgrounds has given me the opportunity to acquire a global perspective, being an international student myself. Fuqua’s curriculum is focused on teamwork and keeping its students updated with the latest management frameworks. I have met extraordinary people with whom I have developed excellent professional and personal relationships."
